Located in Pine County, in the town of Sturgeon Lake, Camp Miller provides a picture-perfect, all-inclusive Y camp experience unlike any other in Northern Minnesota and serves as a destination camp for the surrounding communities. Its large field, abundant trail system, horseback riding arena, and art/activity structures provide an environment that builds self-confidence, strengthens independence, and forges relationships. It's not just children who benefit from the zip-lining, canoeing, fishing, archery, climbing, and wildlife/nature encounters. In addition, Camp Miller operates during the shoulder season providing programming for school groups, family camps, corporate retreats, specialized events, and weddings. Job DescriptionUnder the supervision of the executive director, the Program Director is responsible for the supervision and management of Summer Camp, Retreats and Conferencing and the Camp Store. This includes assisting with supervising the seasonal food service staff. Supervisory responsibilities include budget oversight and business development, staff management, program development and delivery as well as safety/risk management of program departments and Camp Store revenue and expenses. The Program Director has lead responsibility for summer camp programming, delivery and staff supervision. The Program Director serves as branch supervisor in the absence of the Executive Director.QualificationsExperience in administrative roles within a camp setting. •Experience in the development and delivery of programs and activities for similar population. •Experience with managing a team of staff. •Demonstrated ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities. •Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food, and kitchen procedures. •Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods including vegetarian •Ability to understand, adapt to, and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives, and cultures. •Certifications: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent, Basic First Aid (required), and ServSafe. Training can be provided upon hiring and must be obtained within 60 days. Higher levels of certification are accepted. •Commitment of supporting principles of equal opportunity and affirmative action to achieve a diverse work environment.Essential FunctionsAlong with Executive Director, provide leadership and supervision to staff achieving successful growth of non-summer programs with an emphasis on Outdoor Education and Retreats/Conferences. •Along with Executive Director, Responsible for assigned departments and Camp Store resulting in annual growth and achieving targeted budget and enrollment figures. •Develop and implement new curriculum and program options for summer camp and year-round programming. •Work with Executive Director to recruit and retain school and rental groups. •Work with Executive Director on aspects of Camp including: including marketing, fiscal management, safety/risk, staffing, and program development and delivery. •Maintain inventory of program equipment. •Along with Executive Director, Serve as on-site contact for summer camp and for non-summer programs. •Maintain a clean camp before, during, and after group visits. •Ensure timely payment from user groups and summer camp participant families. •Maintain accurate inventory, records, and files. •Assist Executive Director with annual accreditation with the American Camp Association. •Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director.Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies•Inclusion: Work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions •Operational Effectiveness: Integrates multiple thinking processes to make decisions.
