Title: Waterfront Director - (Seasonal - Residential)Reports to: Summer Camp DirectorClassification/FLSA Status: Exempt, SeasonalCompensation: $650 per weekPosition Summary:The Waterfront Director oversees all activities, staff, and operations at the waterfront areas of the camp. This leadership role ensures a safe, engaging, and fun aquatic experience for all campers and staff while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and policies. This is a 6-week residential position that will run June 8th, 2025 - July 18th, 2025, and includes room and meals for the duration of the summer sessions.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and direct waterfront activities during resident summer camp; includes direct supervision of camp staff while engaged in waterfront activities.
  • Enforce all safety guidelines, rules, and emergency procedures.
  • Participate in general camp activities.
  • During staff training week and throughout the camp sessions, train and supervise counselors and lifeguard staff.
  • Plan and coordinate aquatic programs, including swimming, sailing, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, and other waterfront activities.
  • Create schedules and rotations for waterfront activities, ensuring a balanced and inclusive experience for all campers.
  • Foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for all campers.
  • Monitor camper participation, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and supported at the waterfront.
  • Enforce waterfront safety measures for every person in camp (including staff, visitors, and campers) in line with Girl Scout, American Camping Association and Florida Department of Health standards.
  • Ensure all activities comply with state and local regulations as well as camp policies.
  • Responsible for care and the use of all boats (canoes, kayaks, sail boats, and paddleboards), lifesaving equipment and other supplies and equipment; requisitions necessary equipment and supplies during camp; request reports for necessary repairs and maintenance work.
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
  • Girl Scout Membership required.
  • Successful completion of background check.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification
  • CPR and First Aid Certification
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and Waterfront Lifeguard.

  • Physical ability to frequently stop, kneel, bend, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, pull, lift, and move objects up to 30 pounds at shoulder height, and occasionally lift in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Demonstrated normal depth perception.
  • See and read printed materials, with or without visual aids; distinguish colors; read and understand rules and policies, labels and instructions.
  • Verbal communication including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels.
  • Other demands, as determined by the employer.
