I. Position PurposeUnder the direct supervision of the Chief of Police / Director of Campus Safety, theCampus Enforcement Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secureenvironment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors at Hocking College. This roleinvolves enforcing campusregulations, promoting community-oriented safety, andpreventing incidents that may disrupt the educational environment. The officer willserve as a resource to the campus community by providing support and guidancerelated to campus security, while collaborating with local law enforcement asneeded.II. Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure the safety and security of the campus community by enforcingcollege policies and maintaining a calm, respectful presence.Write clear and accurate reports related to campus safety incidents,including detailed notes and diagrams when necessary.Use good judgment in deciding when to intervene in situations, ensuringthat any actions taken are reasonable and in line with campus safetyguidelines.Safely operate a campus vehicle during various weather and trafficconditions to respond to incidents or assist in patrol duties.Communicate effectively with team members and campus staff usingcampus radio channels, responding quickly and professionally to calls.Collect information by speaking with individuals involved in incidents, suchas students, staff, and visitors, in a respectful and non-confrontationalmanner.Assist with campus patrols, including monitoring areas on foot or in avehicle, checking doors and windows, and ensuring campus facilities aresecure.Support emergency response efforts by helping with evacuations,providing first aid, or directing traffic, ensuring the safety of all individualsduring incidents.Hocking College - Campus Enforcement Officer (Casual-Temp)Page 2 of 3Interact with the community, including students, faculty, and staff, in aprofessional and approachable manner, offering assistance and resolvingdisputes or conflicts.Maintain a calm and authoritative presence during emergencies, providingsupport and working alongside local law enforcement to ensure publicsafety.Assist in campus safety educational programs or events to promoteawareness and understanding of safety procedures.Follow established protocols for managing evidence and handlingincidents that may require further investigation.Maintain professionalism and composure in challenging situations,responding with patience and understanding to difficult or emotionalindividuals.Respond to campus emergencies by directing individuals to safety,providing basic first aid as needed, and securing affected areas tomaintain public safetyCollaborate with other campus staff to identify and resolve potential safetyconcerns, contributing to a secure and welcoming campus atmosphere.Perform other safety-related tasks as needed to ensure the well-being ofthe campus community.III. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and SkillsRequired:High School DiplomaCurrent Ohio Peace Officers Training Council (OPOTC) peace officercertification.Valid Ohio driver's license with an acceptable driving record.Strong communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with adiverse student body and staff in an educational setting.A demonstrated history of ethical conduct and community-focused service.No felony convictions; no misdemeanor convictions involving crimes ofmoral turpitude.Preferred:Associate's degree in a related fieldPrior experience in law enforcement, campus safety, or a related fieldHocking College Campus Enforcement Officers play an important role in ensuring thesafety and well-being of the campus community.
