PRIMARY PURPOSE: Assist with the campus-wide documentation, record keeping, and Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) processes as related to Emergent Bilinguals. Assist in maintaining all LPAC related required information in the web-based student data system. Collaborate with District and campus Registrar's/PEIMS Clerk to ensure accurate coding of Emergent Bilinguals. QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual, ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish and English is required
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
  • Bilingual, ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish and English required
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and e-mail
  • Strong organization, communication, and public relations, and interpersonal skills

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
  • Provide clerical support to LPAC Administrators and Registrars/PEIMS Clerks.
  • Coordinate LPAC Administrators in scheduling and preparation for initial LPAC and reclassification assessment, Middle of the year LPAC, and End of the year LPAC meetings.
  • Follow a process in accordance with the LPAC manual for identification, placement, and review of all Emergent Bilingual students, within PEIMS and District timelines.
  • Ensure accuracy of campus PEIMS/LPAC documents in the student's cumulative records such as, but not limited to: Home Language Survey, English/Spanish Oral Language Proficiency Test (OLPT), Parent Permission Letter for Bilingual/ESL/Dual Language services, student assessment data, monitoring forms, and end of year review documentation.
  • Communicate and coordinate with LPAC Administrators and Registrars/PEIMS Clerks to ensure accurate coding of Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Coordinate with staff and teachers of Emergent Bilinguals to provide and make available to them all LPAC and assessment information of Emergent Bilinguals.
  • Serve as a Campus-level liaison between the Campus and parents of Emergent Bilingual students.
  • Assist student intake process by coordinating with receptionist, Registrar/PEIMS Clerk, campus principals, and families of English learners (emergent bilinguals).
  • Assist the LPAC Administrators, Registrars/PEIMS Clerks and receptionist with clerical duties.
  • Participate in training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Principal.

    Bilingual Education and Special Language Programs Beneficiaries: The Bilingual Education Allotment expenditure is in accordance with the Texas Education Code (TEC), §48.105 to be used for the intent and purpose related to the students served in the Bilingual and ESL Education and Special Language Programs.
