The Campus Operations/Readiness and Planning Director is directly accountable to the Executive Director of Facilities and is responsible for (1) leading College emergency response preparedness and facilities compliance and (2) overseeing student housing matters. This Director position shall coordinate with the Chief of Police for emergency operations planning matters and the Chief Student Success Officer regarding housing matters relevant to Student Services. The Director is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Emergency Preparation: This position will lead and as needed, collaborate with the Campus Police on the following:
    • Remain knowledgeable of and connected to relevant information sources regarding potential emergencies and natural disasters in the area and proactively offer hazard prevention methods. Survey the workplace to evaluate accident risks.
    • Establish and maintain a College business continuity plan that is scalable to each of the College's departments and business units. Establish and maintain a comprehensive emergency management plan that is scalable to each of the College's campuses, crafting policies and procedures to help mitigate emergencies and disasters.
    • Develop and/or work with appropriate vendors to create and offer safety training, leading professional development opportunities, writing training manuals, and demonstrating the proper use of safety equipment.
    • Maintain a current working library of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) codes.
    • Coordinate required fire alarm and other functional tests and assist with practice drills and evacuations.
    • Review all fire and safety systems with authorized inspectors to ensure compliant and safe systems.
    • Conduct independent fire inspections to ensure fire and life safety code compliance.
    • Lead and coordinate compliance-related investigations as needed, maintaining objectivity.
    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the institution's compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Perform regular fire and safety inspections of all college campuses and facilities.
    • Facilities Preparedness: Organize and stockpile emergency supplies and ensure they are accessible within a facility.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Provide leadership during emergencies and coordinate relief efforts.
    • Assist and advise campus leadership during campus-based emergencies or continuity interruptions.
    • Manage emergency communications and maintain the College's emergency notification system.
  • Student Housing Responsibilities: This position serves as the point of contact for all student housing matters.
    • Serve as the primary campus liaison for housing matters and ensure effective communication between the housing management firm, college, and residents.
    • Anticipate issues in housing and alert the appropriate staff.
    • Resolve non-criminal student housing matters, involving relevant College employees.
    • Maintain visibility in the residence facility.
    • Work with the third-party housing management firm to ensure maintenance needs are reported and addressed.
  • Student Services:
    • Select and train Resident Assistants; conduct feedback and evaluation.
    • Support Resident Assistants in resolving roommate conflicts.
    • Establish student activities and programming schedule in coordination with the Resident Assistants.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Train and serve as a Title IX investigator, maintain knowledge of College policies and procedures, and serve as the college Environmental Health and Safety Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution plus 4-6 years of relevant work experience; prior housing experience a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with many constituencies.
  • Must have possession of or the ability to obtain national or state certification in emergency management.
  • Strong knowledge of College procedure and student support programs and services.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include on-call hours.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
  • Must possess comprehensive administrative skills, excellent customer service, scheduling, and record-keeping skills.
