Following the lead of the Director of Planning, the Campus Planner will have the primary role of providing administrative and technical services related to the physical planning of the university and the development of new and renovated campus facilities. The position will share in the responsibilities for campus stewardship through management, coordination, logistics and development of campus planning projects, including space plans, master plans, facility programs, and capital plans. Provides technical and administrative expertise in completion of short, mid, and long range planning initiatives that advance the university's master plan and capital program.Professional Bachelor's degree preferably in planning, architecture, or related professional field.Experience Required:
- 8+ years of relevant experience in planning, architecture, or a related professional field, with a significant portion of this time spent on higher-ed projects
- Experience producing clear, persuasive, and insightful visual presentations and reports.
- Demonstrate creative problem-solving. Possess strong analytical, spatial, and organizational skills in order to: gather, analyze, and interpret numerical data; develop and evaluate space concepts or facility options; and perform visual analysis of buildings and structures.
- Possess writing and verbal skills to effectively communicate ideas, offer recommendations, and interact with staff at many different levels in the university organization.
- Must be able to plan and conduct interviews and field surveys with campus constituents to evaluate space use and identify programmatic requirements.
- Knowledge of the design and construction process.
- Valid Maryland class C driver's license
- Knowledge and appreciation of the unique democratic planning environment which exists in institutions of higher education or similar professional service organizations.
- Ability to prioritize on-going and new projects, as well as conduct research and gather information.
- Ability to work independently on complex tasks with minimal supervision, effectively balance workload priorities and manage client expectations.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in planning, architecture, or related professional fieldExperience Preferred: - Proficiency in use of AutoCad and SketchUp or comparable design and modeling applications. - Group facilitation skills for in-person and hybrid participation activities.- Active professional licensure in the degree-holding field is preferred but not required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
