What is the Security Offer experience? As a Campus Safety & Security Officer, you'll be accountable for the safety and security of the entire Willamette View (WV) community, including employees, residents, visitors, and all WV resources within your assigned area. Operating with minimal supervision but under management guidance, you're expected to align your actions with WV's mission, goals, plans, policies, and distinctive culture. For applicants who do not currently have a DPSST Unarmed Private Security Professional and/or CPR/First Aid/BLS certifications, we offer those training courses, upon hire, at no cost to the employee. Uniform shirts, pants, jackets and required equipment are issued by the department at no cost to the employee. In this role, you'll be expected to:
  • Conduct vehicle and foot patrols of buildings and properties and provides traditional security functions such as safety escorts, trespassing and physical security checks.
  • Coordinates fire/EMS/law enforcement responses to campus.
  • Coordinates emergency after-hours response from on-call maintenance, as needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned.
What are the job qualifications?
  • Must be at least 18 years old on date of hire. Completed High School Diploma or GED by date of hire.
  • Good written communication skills and ability to write detailed, accurate incident reports.
  • Once trained and certified, able to effectively respond to emergency situations, including medicals, and coordinate a proper response.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate some additional training, education and/or military experience beyond high school.
  • Demonstrated success in dealing with challenging individuals, particularly people in crisis or who have cognitive issues.
  • Maintain a Valid Driver's License with a driving record that demonstrates safe habits and respect for the law.
