Security Site Lead

Joffe Emergency Services is looking for a Security Site Lead to join our team and contribute to our mission to keep schools safe! This position is responsible for interfacing with the School (our client), the community, the general public and other Security Professionals on post to ensure that operations are functioning effectively and according to Post Orders and Company policies, while also assisting the Security Division Director to address all after-hours operations and employee relations issues in a timely manner.

Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

Required - Education, Licenses, Certifications & Skills

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess an unarmed Special Police Officer License
  • Current CPR/AED & First Aid Certification (highly desirable but will train)
  • Must pass pre-employment background check
  • Must be able to possess and maintain a professional, uniformed appearance at all times on campus
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required
  • Minimum 1 – 3 years of professional-level work experience required
  • Preferred – Experience and Skills
  • Previous experience in supervisory or leadership roles (Highly desirable, but NOT required)
  • Familiarity with security equipment and best practices
  • Strong attention to detail and possess active listening skills
  • Ability to follow directions
  • Ability to make decisions in stressful situations, assess and evaluate situations effectively, and identify critical issues quickly and accurately
  • Willingness to take direction and critical feedback and adapt to improve skills and effectiveness with a positive, energetic attitude

Requirements

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required.   • Conduct on-the-job training of new employees assigned to post, or when changes to post orders are made. This may include orientation to the post, review of post orders, routine responsibilities, and how to respond to emergency situations or specific client needs
  • Respond to shift call-offs by identifying other individuals to fill-in and and/or stand post until such replacements arrive & assist Security Division Director with scheduling for call-offs or other staff or site scheduling changes
  • Alert Security Division Director to any personnel problems occurring at posts, such as payroll issues, employee relations complaints or other concerns
  • Assist Security Division Director and HR team by supplying written reports of incidents/ situations or assisting Security Division Director and HR team with investigations
  • May be responsible for administering counseling or disciplinary actions that have been initiated by the Security Director and/or HR team. Security Site Leads are asked not to take or initiate such decisions on their own but may execute such actions at the specific direction and or collaboration of the Security Division Director and/or HR team
  • Distribute information/communications to posts as directed by the Security Division Director, which may include obtaining signed acknowledgements or other documents, and returning such documents to the Security Division Director
  • Respond to client or site emergencies as they arise, including ensuring appropriate communication to the Security Division Director occurs post incident
  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, trespassing, smoking or carrying forbidden articles
  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards and report them accordingly
  • Ensure quality of service and contract compliance by regularly inspecting security personnel and their job performance when assigned to his/her shift
  • Maintain overtime to a minimal or preset requirement designated by Joffe Security Department
  • Ability to maintain a reliable means to be contacted (home phone, cell phone, pager, etc.) for assignments or changes to schedule while on duty
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality and have the ability to work in a very independent environment, ensuring all directions and instructions from the Security Division Director are followed consistently and thoroughly
  • Interact professionally with all individuals in a courteous and customer service-oriented manner and de-escalate situations before they become hostile or unpleasant
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative to handle and prioritize multiple, competing deadlines

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • The duties of this job regularly require employees to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment.) Must be able to climb stairs or ramps on a regular basis to respond to emergency situations. Must be able to perform these duties in the event of a security or emergency situation and be able to take a leadership role (act as a First Responder) in assisting others to perform these functions
  • Must be able to constantly walk with both legs, stand for up to the entire shift, and constantly reach with both hands and arms
  • Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English, and to give clear, loud and authoritative instructions or directions to others in a security or emergency situation. Must be able to write handwritten reports, correspondence and reports in the field in clear, legible English
  • Must be able to work the entire shift/weekly schedule on a consistent basis and maintain excellent attendance in accordance with company policies. Must be able to work overtime as needed, including being able to stay over if relief is not readily available at the end of the incumbent's shift
  • The job is generally performed in various environments, including outdoors, in parking structures, and in office settings, and the employee may be subject to adverse conditions such as rain, cold or heat for extended periods of time
  • The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities. Employee must be customer-service focused, able to take direction from supervisors, and maintain good order and discipline through the chain of command as appropriate
  • Must be able to abide by Company's zero-tolerance drug/alcohol policy, not be under the influence of drugs (prescription or illegal) or alcohol to any degree while on duty, and report prescription drug use if such has the possibility of affecting job performance in any manner
