As a nurturing university community, we challenge students, faculty, staff, and administration to fully realize their highest academic, professional, and personal potential.Position Description Summary/Purpose:Under the supervision of the Assistant Dean of Students Affairs the Career Coordinator is a position that would be responsible for advising Goodwin University students and alumni about the process of career exploration, self-assessment, decision-making, as well as job and search techniques in one-on-one advising and group settings. Assistance may be needed regarding internship opportunities as well. Advise and connect students to opportunities in designated career areas. Develop programs, workshops and larger strategic initiatives to educate students about career development areas. Serves as a Career Liaison to one of two academic schools, Applied Liberal Arts and Social Sciences or Business, Technology, and Advanced Manufacturing Overall Responsibilities Include: Participation in full range of Career Services university-wide events including employer visits, career fairs, professional development workshops, and strategic meetings. Conduct outreach to employers in select career fields to encourage participation in Goodwin programs and events. Collaborate with faculty and staff across the University to boost awareness of and engagement in Career Services initiatives. Seek out new information regarding changes in industry, technology, economic trends, and the role of higher education in educating students for future contributions to society and adapt programming accordingly. Additionally, taking the lead on various student programs and activities, such as Career Fairs, Career Workshops, Presentations, and other career related activities. The position will also be responsible for ensuring that jobs are updated and posted to Handshake, the software used to communicate with both students and employers.Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities:(The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.   • Manage and oversee job and employment data within Goodwin's data bases
  • Foster partnerships with Program Directors, faculty and other key individuals in the academic schools to help to embed career development resources into curriculum across all academic programs
  • Partnering with academic staff, conduct outreach to help build a pipeline to employers in various industries to encourage participation in Goodwin University programs and events.
  • Assist with managing ongoing placement/employment strategy and first destination data for students and alumni across the University and coordinate campus-wide follow-up efforts
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
Other Functions:
  • Actively partners with all members of the Career Services Team to promote career development and help to achieve overall career success for Goodwin University students and alumni.
  • Develop résumés, cover letters and other application materials to promote skill sets, position and market students and alumni
  • Work with faculty and Career Services colleagues to present and design career development workshops, networking events, and career fairs for students and alumni
  • Provide individual career counseling and referrals, assist students in job preparation, interview prep and clarification of academic and career goals
  • Provide students with occupational information including information about companies/organizations, current opportunities for employment, hiring practices and transitioning from school to career
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, employers and the public
  • Establish strong working partnerships with Program Directors and Faculty for customizing and facilitating programming
  • Research and implement career assessment tools as part of the career counseling process
  • Represent University in various professional organizations, associations and committees
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  • Continues professional development and training; keeps current with trends.
  • Assists other department staff as needed to promote a team effort.

  • Candidates will have a strong knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources
  • Advanced level of technology: ability to compile reports and utilize student information systems
  • Strong knowledge of technology, online research and data analysis tools (including ONET, Dept of Labor information, etc.), to generate reports on career trends in the regional and national job market
  • Requires the ability to interact with a diverse student, staff and employer population and have a commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Must have excellent writing, presentation, and organizational skills
QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's in Career counseling, HR/Talent Managementor in a directly related field
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a Career Assistant in a college or university, Human Resources Specialist or as a talent management specialist or five years' experience in a directlyrelated field
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience-counseling students/clients involving career, academic and employment issues
