Open Date 9/3/2024 Classification Administrative Department Center for Career and Civic Engagement Exempt/Non-Exempt Exempt System Job Title Strategist Description SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Senior Career Development StrategistSUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises student assistants as necessaryPOSITION SUMMARY: The Career Development Strategist at Moravian University focuses on providing personalized career coaching and delivering workshops and presentations to support students in their career and educational decision-making and planning. This position plays a crucial role in preparing students for successful post-graduate outcomes in diverse industries and/or graduate programs. The Career Development Strategist reports to the Senior Career Development Strategist and works collaboratively with other career and civic engagement staff to ensure comprehensive support for students.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Individualized Career Coaching:
  • Provide one-on-one career coaching to students, assisting them with career exploration, resume and cover letter development, job and internship search strategies, interview preparation, and graduate school applications. Administer and interpret career assessment tools to help students understand their strengths, interests, and career possibilities.
  • Guide students in setting and achieving career goals, offering tailored advice and resources to support their professional development.
  • Guide students through the process of earning Moravian's Career Readiness Digital Badges by ensuring they meet the necessary criteria and track and report their progress towards earning these badges and other career milestones.
Workshops and Presentations:
  • Design and deliver engaging workshops and classroom presentations on career-related topics such as resume writing, job search strategies, networking, interviewing skills, and professional etiquette.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other university departments to integrate career development content into the curriculum and co-curricular activities.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of workshops and presentations, making improvements based on feedback and assessment data.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Support the Senior Career Development Strategist in organizing employer panels, networking events, and other career-related activities.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials and communication strategies to promote career services and programs to students (i.e. website, social media, print marketing).
  • Serve in liaison roles to student groups/departments/academic programs as needed and fit with interest areas.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with trends and best practices in career development and higher education.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree required in a related field including but not limited to counseling, higher education, human resources, or communications. Related experience in career development in a higher education environment, human resources, and/or advising is preferred. Proficient in the areas of communication, networking, career readiness skills, organization, social media platforms and event planning. A willingness to devote occasional nights and weekend hours. as needed. Requires a team player who can multitask and work under firm deadlines. Enthusiasm for and comfort in learning and using various forms of technology.
