COMPREHENSIVE JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB TITLE: Career Services Manager REPORTS TO: Vice President of Mission ServicesYoungstown Area Goodwill Industries, Inc. is one of the best kept secrets in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. The organization operates 10 retail stores, is an eCommerce seller, works with community partners to provide business services solutions, and ultimately uses the revenue it earns to assist the Mission Services department in providing services to assist individuals in finding, maintaining, and advancing in employment. We are seeking an empathetic, resourceful, and highly motivated Career Services Manager to join our team to support Mercer and Lawrence (PA) counites. The Career Services Manager will help individuals in overcoming barriers to employment and help them secure sustainable employment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of workforce development, community resources, and job search strategies. This role involves working closely with job seekers to assess their needs, identify appropriate career opportunities, and provide coaching throughout the job search process.Specific Job Responsibilities
Career Coaching & Support: Provide one-on-one coaching and guidance to job seekers, helping them navigate the job market, set career goals, and identify employment opportunities suited to their skills and interests.Job Search Assistance: Assist clients in creating and refining resumes, cover letters, and job applications. Guide them in job search strategies, online application processes, and networking techniques to maximize their employment prospects.Assess Client Needs: Conduct initial assessments to determine the job seeker's skills, qualifications, and barriers to employment. Develop personalized employment plans that address specific challenges, such as lack of skills, experience, or access to transportation.Community Relationships:Establish and maintain community relationships with employers and public agencies to facilitate learning and secure employment opportunities. Develop, grow and maintain relationships with a variety of referral sources and employers to increase participant referrals and program utilization. Establish and grow programming to meet identified needs.Documentation and Reporting:Clearly record participant progress through services and complete all necessary documentation and reporting within established times. Upload documents and update information in client record system within 24 hours of meeting or speaking with client.Work with team members to provide services that will address: attendance; punctuality grooming; job seeking skills; work quality and quantity; work-related skills such as time management, mobility, and money management; work practices; reasonable accommodations and assistive technology; and counseling regarding other barriers to employment.Ensure program compliance with policies, procedures and practices in accordance with a variety of oversight agencies including the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) standards.Work with staff in training procedures, paperwork, and departmental expectations. Review and provide feedback regarding statistical interpretation, quality of content, grammar and formatting of reports. Responsible for overview of client daily documentation, monthly reports, final reports, team and exit staffing documentation, and other required documentation according to deadlines of direct staff members. Learn, use, submit, and teach current OVR (PA), PA First Step Act and other report templates as directed. All other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in social work, education, psychology, rehabilitation counseling, or related field preferred. Knowledge of Western Pennsylvania (Mercer and Lawrence counties) community resources and agencies. Must have a valid driver license.
