Job DescriptionTo assist the Director of the Career Development Center in the daily operation of the department. Career Success Coach will counsel students and alumni on career-related matters.Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Assist students and alumni with professional development related to career options, the development of job search skills, and securing employment. Serve as a liaison with academic colleges.
- Provide career and job search advising to students and alumni.
- Plan, schedule, coordinate, deliver, and promote career development workshops, information sessions, and career events. Serve as a liaison with colleges.
- Market the services of the Career Development Center. Participate in all orientation sessions. Collaborate with Career Development Center to plan and execute career fairs and information sessions.
- Develop and implement career assessment plans utilizing FOCUS2 and other career-focused programs; maintain data and records needed for monthly and annual reports, as well as other departmental statistics.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred).
- Understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Ability to support and understand the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven prior office experience with emphasis on one-on-one interactions.
- Experience in an office setting preferred.
- Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills, including active listening.
- Strong organizational skills with accurate record-keeping and data entry.
- Analytical skills for reviewing documents and student files.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Internet usage, and report writing.
CHARACTERISTICS PREFERRED: - Patience and empathy for students, parents, and other constituents; must be congenial and respectful under stressful conditions.
- Ability to multi-task, handle frequent interruptions, and maintain a professional, caring persona.
- Strong work ethic and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to maintain productive and inclusive working relationships with diverse populations, including staff, faculty, administration, students, and external constituents.
- Willingness to learn and implement new software systems while staying proficient with upgrades and changes.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Primarily involves sitting, with occasional walking and standing.
- Ability to climb, walk, crouch, and perform repetitive motions. Strong communication skills are essential.
- Availability for frequent hours outside the normal workday during peak times and events.
