Position Overview:
A Cargo Physical Security Specialist focuses on safeguarding cargo during transport, storage, and handling. Their responsibilities typically include:
Monitoring, Surveillance, and Risk Assessment
- Evaluate and take measures to mitigate risks to cargo security, such as theft, tampering, or loss.
- Oversee cargo loading, unloading, and transit to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Use technology and systems to monitor cargo movements.
- Identify and respond to suspicious activities or breaches.
- Follow all security protocols tailored to the client's needs and the environment.
Incident Management and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure adherence to industry regulations (e.g., TSA, Customs, and Border Protection standards).
- Maintain records of incidents, audits, and compliance measures.
- Respond to security incidents, such as theft, vandalism, or loss of cargo.
- Leverage training and experience to effectively manage and address all situations encountered during duty.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Provide timely updates on movements, potential or actual risks, and incidents to the GEG Special Operations Command Center and client partner as needed.
- Work with logistics teams, customs officials, and transport companies to ensure secure operations.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies to stay updated on security guidelines and threats.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain an airport badge with customs seal: DHS requires a 10-year verifiable background check, including criminal, employment history. Also, must be able to pass a security threat assessment as administered by the TSA
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Must have a valid State Security License
- Must be able to pass all initial and recurrent training classes and exams
- Federal regulations specify U.S. Citizenship, naturalized or birthright as an eligibility requirement to participate in mandatory position specific training.
- Must be willing and able to participate, with negative results in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing
