Seattle City Light is looking for experienced Carpenters to join our team at our South Service Center facility in Seattle. These positions will perform journey-level carpentry such as framing, construction and repair of structures, walls, cabinets, and building of concrete forms and finishing Concrete. A working knowledge of the methods, materials, & tools used in carpentry and skill in their use is required. The Carpenters will read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, specifications, and written instruction to complete work orders within assigned guidelines and City building code; coordinate work activities with other trades and laborers; and assist in the design and development of plans for new construction depending on the work assignments. These positions will report to the Carpenter Crew Chief at South Service Center.
* Alter, repair, and construct a variety of building structures such as walls, partitions, doorways, window casings, stairways, electrical vaults, and roofs.
* Build and install concrete forms; pour and finish concrete.
* Design, construct, remodel, repair, and install cabinets and office furniture.
* Install window glass, flooring, ceiling, and wall covering materials.
* Design and construct scaffolding, work platforms, trench shoring, and temporary structures.
* Required to work around and in energized vaults, electrical yards including substations powerhouses, and dams.
* Build toolboxes for power tools, hand tools, and small machines.
* Install commercial doors, windows, and door hardware.
* Estimate and requisition materials for work activities; maintain records of job time and materials used.
* Install and maintain locks and other security hardware.
* Maintain historical preservation of SCL buildings.
* Framing, construction and repair of structures, frames, tables, walls, cabinets and building concrete forms.
Required Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has:
Requires completion of an accepted carpentry apprenticeship program or three years of carpentry trade experience under the direction of a journey-level carpenter (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Certification: Current Washington State Driver's License or equivalent mobility.
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
* Experience with finish carpentry work.
* Experience working on historic preservation projects.
* Ability to work within a diverse workforce and be effective in a team setting or alone after being given oral or written instructions.
Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Outlook and other computer software programs.

The full salary range for this position is hourly rate $47.44 - $47.44 per hour.
