This position is assigned to the Division of Property and Construction on the Dorothea Dix Campus in Raleigh C; this position will work in a variety of building settings and will work both inside and outside in the elements. The assigned trade area of this position includes but is not limited to: alterations and modifications to building's exterior and interior, repair walls with sheetrock & plaster, install steel windows and door frames, install doors and door closers, form and pour concrete, install bulletin boards, make repairs as needed to EPDM, TPO, Metal and Shingle roof systems, construction and repair of office furniture, install counter tops, install floor tile and rubber base, and other duties as assigned by department leadership. Work is performed independently; however, position may refer unusual work problems to the supervisor for consideration and final determination. Positions provide technical guidance to other positions engaged in skilled, semiskilled or unskilled maintenance work. The normal working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. This position is an essential position that will be required to report to work during periods of adverse weather and/or other emergency situations. This position is required to perform on-call duty and is subject to emergency call-back at any time, including weekends and Holidays.

About the DHHS Office of Property & Construction:

The Division of Property and Construction provides maintenance, housekeeping, and grounds services for the Dorothea Dix Campus which consists of 35 buildings totally 944,700 square feet of building space on 326 acres and provides basic maintenance and grounds services for the Governor Morehead School which has 31 buildings totaling 291,000 square feet of building space.

Listed below are the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) associated with the position. These KSAs, along with the minimum education and experience listed, are required in order to be deemed eligible for the position therefore you must provide supporting information, within the body of your application, to demonstrate your possession of each KSA listed.

* Proven experiences applying the practices, procedures and materials used in the maintenance and repair of commercial buildings.

* Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and blueprints.

* Proven experience in the use of all carpentry trade tools and equipment

* Position must be capable of working from elevated work platforms up to 60 feet in height.

* Valid Nor1h Carolina Driver's License required

Physical Requirements

HEAVY WORK- Exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Work may be

performed outside during all types of weather conditions.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas;
