How you can make a bigger difference: PURPOSE: The Cedar Knolls House Hard to Place Group Residence serves girls ages 15 to 21 who exhibit a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges stemming from acute and/or chronic traumatization. All of the youth are referred by the Administration for Children's Services. The Group Residence provides supervised living units and programs of therapeutic and recreational services that emphasize family interaction and strengthening of community support networks, as well as increasing independent living skills. The goal for all of our youth is to transition them back to the community within a year of placement to a family member, significant adult connection, achieve housing, higher education, etc.All treatment team members work to ensure that youth and families drive the focus of their treatment and are full-time partners in their own healing and recovery. The treatment team supports youth and families in developing the skills to keep them safe from abuse, neglect and maltreatment, and to foster and strengthen connection to their home and communities. The team assesses the individual needs of youth, families, and their environments. Clinical programming infused into Milieu Treatment and individualized interventions reflect the program's commitment to culturally competent practice based on strengths, needs, and feedback. Youth and families have direct input into their treatment as well as program performance and development. We utilize therapeutic crisis intervention (TCI) model in conjunction with evidence-based clinical interventions to support youth and family in their healing and recoveryPOSITION OVERVIEW: The Case Associate will work in conjunction with the Office Manager to assist with matters relating to our resident population included but not limited to scanning and maintaining client files, scheduling appointments, and interfacing with residents and vendors. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (List the functions that are essential to achieve the goals):
  • Complete tasks as assigned by the office manager who serves as the task supervisor.
  • Engage residents in all facets of program participation.
  • In conjunction with our clinic, medical and CPI departments create and maintain an appointment calendar for the youth.
  • Assist youth in scheduling and keeping appointments, provide follow up to the team regarding the appointments.
  • Assist youth, vendors, visitors, families, and community officials etc. to connect with appropriate staff members. Answer calls, take accurate messages and route calls to the appropriate party.
  • Enter notes into Connections and My Avatar surrounding their interactions with the youth. Will also be responsible for entering notes regarding program notices and events. Routinely enter client information into various data bases.
  • Will work with CPI to ensure FTC letters and documentation is completed timely.
  • May make routine community contacts on behalf of the Administrative Team, e.g., school reports, medical reports, police reports, etc.
  • Will assist and participate in program events and maintain a bulletin boards as assigned.
  • Will complete tasks associated with that of a clerical position, such as filing, data entry and supply storage.
  • Manage and update department database(s).
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL / TRAINING REQUIRED (List all that is required to achieve this position):
  • BA Degree, with child welfare experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALLIFICATIONS NEEDED
  • Ability to perform a helping role.
  • Ability to support the milieu and social work department in times of crisis by supervising residents and assisting with therapeutic holds.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED (List the computer skills needed):
  • Familiarity with working in Windows environment
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems and application software
VISUAL AND MANUAL Dexterity:The candidate should be able to read paper and electronic documents and perform significant data entry into various computer programs.WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL EFFORT
  • Ability to assist residents with carrying groceries, laundry, and other household items
  • lifting, may be required to perform a resident hold,
  • Driver's license required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED / LANGUAGE PREFERENCE (List what the desire to reach goals):
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
