A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new team member to join their staff in Harlem as a Case Manager. About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Assignment Length: Ongoing (potential contract to hire)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 9am-5pm + (one late day- flex) 11am-7pm
  • Setting: Domestic Violence Shelter
Responsibilities: The Case Manager will:
  • Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes, through individual and group counseling
  • Develop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in the process of locating and securing permanent housing
  • Assist all residents in the process of referral and placement in community based resources
  • Assess residents' vocational and educational needs, aptitudes and interests through interviews and testing
  • Develop and maintain placement and follow-up as appropriate after assessment and counseling.
  • Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population
  • Attend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings
  • Develop with the resident, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Health and/or Human Services-related field with at least 1+ years of experience is required
  • Training and experience in assessing the vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clients
  • Thorough familiarity and success with engaging clients experience assisting eligible clients through the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid and other benefits
  • Knowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence issues
  • Computer savvy
  • Microsoft Office Application proficiency
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Desired Skills:
  • BA Degree with 1+ year of case management experience
  • Bilingual Spanish candidate is preferred
  • Experience in a Residential Shelter for victims of Domestic Violence
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in Group Counseling
  • Experience working with underserved population
