The employee must have the ability to work efficiently remotely if required Examples of Duties
  • Provide Child Protective Services investigations and ongoing case management services
  • Provides ACCESS services related to child abuse/neglect, child welfare, and law enforcement referrals
  • Provides assessment, conducts home visits and supervised visitation, provides case management services to children, individuals, and families for court-ordered and voluntary cases related to child protection, child welfare, delinquency, and status offenses
  • Provide children's Juvenile Court Intake services for the purpose of screening children/youth taken into custody
  • Conduct intake inquiry interviews with children, youth and families
  • Make decisions/recommendations regarding law enforcement and non-law enforcement intake referrals including case closure, informal disposition, deferred prosecution or court petitioning
  • Determine the range of services needed by individuals and families through interviews, home visits, collateral contacts, etc.
  • Provides families with information specific to their financial obligations for repayment for services provided
  • Attends court hearings and provides written reports and testimony
  • Monitors compliance with court orders
  • Coordinates services with other agencies/disciplines/community members such as law enforcement, schools, attorneys, mental health, and substance abuse service providers, etc.
  • Provides evening and weekend on-call services including assessment, provides crisis intervention, takes and transports children subject to temporary physical custody orders, makes custody decisions and referrals
  • Completes case-related documents including correspondence, case decisions, and general documentation within specific timelines
  • Arranges evaluation services to assist with family assessment decisions
  • Prepares families for court hearings by explaining the process and by sharing recommendations
  • Participates in section and department meetings, work-related committees, and trainings
  • Participates in the Child Abuse Response Effort (C.A.R.E.) Team
  • Assists in development, coordination and participate in the multi-discipline coordination teams; including the Child Death Review Team
  • May act as the child abuse and neglect electronic data base Super-User for Children and Families Section
  • Provides informational presentations to other staff, professionals, and community groups related to department programs and policies
  • Participates in supervision/consultation
  • Practice safe computer skills to ensure county cyber security.

  • Qualifications
  • Minimum of a four-year degree from an accredited college in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice or another approved human services program
  • Minimum of one-year experience providing case management to children and families
  • Experience in computer use and keyboarding (40 wpm) including Microsoft software including word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, etc.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

C. Organizational Skills 1) Uses effective time management techniques 2) Documents cases accuratelyShifts and Work Hours:Generally, the courthouse is open from 8:00am until 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Depending upon the position, full-time employees may be scheduled either 37.5 or 40 hours per week.Shifts for Dispatch personnel will vary, but cover 24-hours per day, 365 days per year. Applicants for these positions must be flexible. .Insurance:Health insurance is available to regular employees that work 26 hours per week or more and those that are eligible for participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Coverage is effective upon completion of one full calendar month of employment.Both Disability and Life Insurance are available.A Section 125 Plan (Flexible Spending) is available.Sick Leave:Sick time is accumulated at the rate of eight (8) days per year for full-time employees and is pro-rated based on hours worked for employees working 50% time or more. New employees are provided with 37.5 or 40 hours upon hire (in addition to the monthly allocation), which may be used for any purpose during the first year of employment.Vacation for full-time employees scheduled 1950 hours per year:Upon Hire: 37.5 hoursAfter One (1) year: 75 hoursAfter Five (5) years: 112.5 hoursAfter Ten (10) years: 150 hoursAfter Fifteen (1) years: 187.5 hoursVacation for full-time employees scheduled 2080 hours per year:Upon Hire: 40 hoursAfter One (1) year: 80 hoursAfter Five (5) years: 120 hoursAfter Ten (10) years: 160 hoursAfter Fifteen (1) years: 200 hoursUp to five (5) days equivalent of vacation may be carried over to the next year and must be used within the first 6 months of the new year.For employees working more than 50% time, but less than full-time, vacation time is pro-rated based upon the regular number of hours scheduled.Holidays:New Year's Eve, New Years Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Spring Holiday (Friday before Easter), Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Christmas EveRetirement:Wisconsin Retirement System (Employee and Employer each contribute).An optional Deferred Compensation Program is available.Additional voluntary insurances are available, including: Vision, Dental, Accident, Disability and Critical Care.
