Greets guests as they enter the dining area. Takes cash from guests, communicates about the menu, and implements Dining Services policies. Great customer service is a key element of this job.

Minimum Education/Experience

Current OCCC student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during fall or spring, 3 hours during the summer.

OR

Current OCCC student with a federal work study award.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.

Knowledge of food sanitation policies and procedures is required.

Experience working in a fast paced commercial kitchen preferred.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Medium work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 25 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, climb, push, pull, stop, twist, stretch, squat, reach and life up to 25 pounds from floor to waist level without assistance. Individual must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods of time.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the OCCC general dining area and kitchen on campus and off-site outreach locations.

This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to administration, faculty, staff, students, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that involves repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

This position performs the essential functions in an indoor kitchen or dining area setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cashier:

Receive cash, checks and complete credit/debit-card transactions from customers and employees.

Makes correct change from cash transactions.

Operate computer/cash register and enthusiastically accepts payments from customers.

Count money in cash drawer at the beginning and end of work shift and ensures it balances to end of shift reports.

Serve customers with courtesy, patience.

Maintains high cleanliness standards

Catering event service worker

Assist with catering events setting up catering service according to client/customer requests.

Serves food and beverage to guests

Maintains appearance and cleanliness of food service areas during event

Replenishes food and beverage product during event

Breaks down and cleans food service areas and equipment post event; returns equipment to proper storage area

Ensures all services are cleaned up at the end of the meeting or requested pick-up time.

Maintains a clean and organized the working environment and professional appearance.

Helps in kitchen when needed.

Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Follows proper food preparation and sanitation directives as established by the Health Department. Comply with internal policies and procedures as they apply to food, sanitation, and safety within the Dining Services department. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping work area clean, properly/safely using equipment and keeping floor free of food/liquid that may be a potential safety hazard, adhering to agreed work schedule.

Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training are pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
