Job Title: Casting Operator Casting/MeltingClassification: Non-ExemptDepartment: CastingReports to: SupervisorPurpose:The Casting/Melting Operator is responsible for monitoring equipment, making adjustments as necessary to maintain quality, and reporting any changes in conditions they can't control.General Duties:Ensure equipment is operating within specified parametersOperation of melting furnaces: Material handling, charging, alloying melting furnacesBuild 20 Metric Ton charges continuous throughout the shiftLoad the charges in 1450 degree melting furnacesSafely Operate 15,000# forkliftsPerform Spectrometer testing to plan refinementsPerform fluxing and refinements to the metal to ensure qualityManually transfer 15 Metric Ton of 1450 degree metal from Melters to HoldersClean and maintain daily maintenance on metal troughsPerform and monitor equipment checksClean, inspect, and maintain furnacesPerform and maintain quality checksManual set up of casting operations and maintain good casting conditionsAble to shutoff metal blowouts during productionPerforms work by SOP'sMaintain good 5S in work area, equipment, and toolsPerforms other duties as requiredMaintain and support 5s activities outside the working areasSafely operate 20 Metric Ton overhead cranesSkills:Ability to work both independently and as a teamBasic troubleshooting and problem solvingAbility to identify nonstandard situations and respond accordinglySelf-DrivenRequirements:High school degree or GED equivalency.Basic mechanical aptitudeMust be willing to work a (4 Star) 12-hour shifts (willing to work every other weekend and some holidays). Shifts are either 5:00 AM to 5:10 PM or 5:00 PM to 5:10 PMAble to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods, to include but not limited to: lifting, walking, standing, stooping, pulling, and pushingWilling to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations; including wearing personal protective equipmentMust always work safelyWilling to work in hot/humid, cold, noisy industrial environment (Summer time heat index in excess of 135 degrees and sub-freezing temperature during winter months)Willing to work around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substancesAble to use a computer for basic reporting and documentationGood interpersonal skillsGood communication skills.
