These areas are operated by a Combined Crew concept, which means your assignment to one of the pre mentioned areas may be temporary, and if business conditions require movement to another areas to either be trained in another area or help support that area to meet production requirements. Each area has its' level of physical workloads where safety awareness in proper lifting, bending, twisting is highly emphasized as all safety issues in a manufacturing setting where the environmental condition can be very hot and humid.Starting Pay: $28.99You will have the opportunity to:The “essential functions” of a position are those tasks that meet the definition of “the reason the position exists”. The job classification of “Combined Crew Furnace Operator” includes the following essential functions:Operator checks heat numbers on run card with heat numbers on back of charge pan to make sure they are identicalOperator checks and hot cleans furnace or ladleAdd charge to furnaceRub, rake, skim and tap furnaceDraw metal samples from furnace or ladle for analysis and calculate types and amounts of materials needed to ensure that materials meet specificationsTransfer molten metal from furnaces and place it into molds, or ladlesRemove impurities from the surface of molten metal using skimmers or rakesFeeds material into furnaces maintain identity throughout entire operationObserves instrumentation and operates controls to reach and maintain proper melting temperaturesMonitors metal pouring, temperature, ram speed and water flow to assure utmost yieldMust know the procedure for handling and disposing of solid and liquid wasteLearn and certify per Plant Policy to safety operate a forklift and other mobile equipment as it pertains to specific job tasksRecord data in various computer programsSorting ingots to order specificationsMold prep and set upCollector bag change and cleaning out pits and baysTools and PPE:Hearing protectionSafety glassesMetatarsal bootsFull face respiratorLeather, nitrile, and cotton glovesAluminized coats and spatsHead gearCotton sleeveTyvek body suitEncapsulated suitRequirements: ​High school diploma or GED requiredMust be able to pass a Physical Skills Assessment that is required to work in this positionMust be able to work independently without supervisionMust follow all environmental health and safety rules and regulations and must wear all required safety equipmentMust have concern for safety for themselves and co-workersMust have a positive, team player attitudeThe selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
