Join an award-winning Community based hospital - Trauma II as a CAT SCAN Tech - Evenings- FTEMonday - Friday 2:30pm - 10:30pm; alternating weekends and holidaysORVaried 4p-12a, alt. wknds/holidaysORMon-Fri 2p-10p alt w/e & holidaysPerforms routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures. Assists radiologists. Prepares, operates, and cares for the equipment being used. Processes images /CDs when needed. Adheres to established radiology standards of care. Applies principles of radiation protection, when appropriate to minimize exposure to patient, self and others. Assumes responsibility for assigned areas and duties. Adheres to hospital wide customer service programs. Performs other duties as assigned, such as quality assurance. Performs diagnostic and some special procedure medical radiographic images utilizing CAT scan equipment. Exercises professional judgment in performance of proceduresEssential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following:1. Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part questionnaires2. Assumes responsibility for designated areas and/ or procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed exams for quality, completeness of the type of test ordered3. Assists physicians during procedures as necessary4. Performs equipment Quality assurance and calibrations as needed, lets Sr. staff know when supplies are low and need to be ordered.5. Will be required to work in case of emergency procedures or when situations arise in the department. Works on call, holiday, overtime and/or day, evening, and overnight shift coverage to help maintain adequate and safe coverage for the department.6. Maintains the cleanliness of all work areas, equipment, and accessories. Reports all malfunctioning equipment to Bio Med or Senior staff.7. Processes images, or prints CD's if needed8. Performs routine office duties, such as answering phones, checking previous reports/ films, documenting information on patients in EPIC, hospital RIS and PACs digital x-ray system9. Notifies transport when patients are ready to be picked up or returned to the floor.10. May be assigned as an instructor or preceptor11. Will treat all people/staff in a professional and courteous manner, upholding the hospitals' behavioral standards.12. Introduces self, uses 2 patient identifiers, and explains the exam to the patient and/or family members.13. Knowledgeable and skillful in providing care and meeting the physical and psychosocial needs of different patient populations including neonate/newborn, pediatric/adolescent, adults, and geriatric groups14. Performs New York State and ACR quality assurance tasks and calibrations15. Performs other related duties as required, attends staff meetings and in-service16. Duties and hours may change according to the needs of the department or hospital17. On standby/ call for emergency department coverage18. Performs all other related duties as assigned19. Aware of department specific protocols and policies; such as Stroke Program / Code Gray, IV & Oral contrast, etcEducation & Experience Requirements:The CAT Scan Technologist must be a graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital-based program. NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required. ARRT registered (RT) and radiograph(R) and or (CT) certified and / or NMTCB registered (CNMT), and documented training and experience in operating CT equipment and radiation physics and protection.Passing advanced CT examination /certification within 1 year from date of hire.Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet the standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period depending on the year of birth.DOH IV certification preferred or by completion of 6-month orientation.BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.Radiation dose pledge for both Image Gently and Image Wisely through the American College of Radiology (ACR) will be performed during the orientation process and before the end of the probationary period.
