Primary Purpose:Help meet the physical and instructional needs of students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom. Assist in the implementation of classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction programs. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of the certified teacher.Qualifications:Education:High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate[Applies to aides who are not providing instructional support in Title I, Part A programs]Associate's degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning, or have met formalacademic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)[Applies to aides who are providing instructional support in Title I, Part A programs]Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work with children with disabilitiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyKnowledge of general office equipment
