Job Summary:As a driver you will be responsible for the pick-up and delivery of materials and equipment to support our business needs. This includes pumps, machine parts, steel, plate, pipe fabrications and structures, and wheeled/tracked equipment in a variety of truck and trailer combinations.Key Responsibilities:* Operate a variety of trucks and trailers.* Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks.* Perform and document vehicle / equipment inspections at required intervals to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.* Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.* Complete minor truck and trailer maintenance; Coordinate additional maintenance as needed.* Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verify instructions and routes.* Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.* Maintain DOT required logbooks.* Obtain receipts and signatures for delivered goods.* Safely and properly load and secure all loads or assist with the same.* Safely and properly unload all loads or assist with the same.* Communicate with customers, dispatch and management on arrival/departure schedules.* Operate a smart phone to take photographs and document time worked per job and other parameters.* Predominately daytrip only within State of Florida. Rare overnight travel as needed.Education:* Must possess a Class A CDL and have a clean driving record.Experience:* Minimum of 3 years of direct hauling experience.Knowledge Skills & Abilities:* Must be able to be approved for, and maintain eligibility to be on, company insurance.* Ability to read and write English, fluently.* Customer service oriented.* Demonstration of a positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude.* Great active listening skills. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.* Must be dependable and operate with a high-level of integrity.* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.* Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.Work Location and Travel:* Location is at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, Florida, 33801Work Environment:* This is a full-time position. Days and Hours of work are Monday-Friday from 8:00am- 5:00pm with overtime as needed. Must also submit to a post-offer / pre-employment background check that verifies criminal history.Physical Requirements:Talk/Hear: Must be able to communicate with dispatchers, respond to instructions or alerts, and ensure safe and efficient navigation.Stand/Sit: Frequently need to sit for long periods while operating the vehicle and stand for tasks such as inspecting the truck, loading or unloading cargo, and performing maintenance checks.Walk: Occasionally required to walk to inspect the vehicle, load or unload cargo, and navigate around the truck during stops and deliveries.Use hands/fingers to handle or feel: Frequently required to use hands and fingers to operate controls, handle and secure cargo, and perform vehicle inspections and maintenance tasks.Climb: Required to access the truck's cab, inspect or secure cargo, and perform maintenance tasks on higher parts of the vehicle.Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl: Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to inspect or secure cargo in lower compartments, perform vehicle maintenance, or retrieve items from lower areas.See: Must have adequate vision to navigate safely, monitor traffic conditions, inspect their vehicle, and ensure compliance with regulations.Carry, weight, Lift: Regularly required to carry or lift to load or unload cargo and manage supplies or equipment needed for their route.Exposure to work: Works in various environmental conditions, including exposure to weather conditions, noise, vibration, and traffic.
