Job Description :
* Responsible for studying the Texas DPS Commercial Driver Handbook, Vehicle Inspection pre-trip, and other training material, outside of training class, in preparation for the written knowledge tests and road test.* Follows the training requirements to successfully pass up to 5 written knowledge tests to obtain CLP. Must successfully pass the 3-event test: Vehicle Inspection Pre-Trip, Basic Control Skills, and Road Test to obtain CDL* Attends classroom training to obtain Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP), Entry Driver Training Theory, and on-site Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Training within the required program deadline. Be alert and prepared at all times with limited noise distractions* Assumes charge of the bus while training behind the wheel, receptive to feedback and guidance, while following directions provided by the Safety and Training Team.* Responsible for all DPS fees involved with upgrading current license to a class B CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with P/S (Passenger and School Bus) endorsements* Reports to work on time and is absent only with good cause to ensure timely program completion. Must notify the Safety Team of absences.* Maintains a good working relationship with the Safety Team and Service Center staff, maintaining accessibility and communicating consistently during the program duration.* Attends all required staff developments and completes any required trainings.* Follows the Dallas ISD Driver Code of Conduct, exhibits good judgement in decision-making and problem-solving, works effectively with others, follows the chain of command as noted in organizational policy.* Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.* Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency) preferred* At least 21 years of age required* Texas Driver's License and ability to obtain a Texas Commercial Driver's License (Class A or B) with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements* Must be able to drive a vehicle with Airbrakes* Type 3 driving record that meets the District's standard for operations of motor vehicles* Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam required* Meet all state (TEA) qualifications for school bus drivers required* Competency to complete required bus driver safety training* Must be able to communicate effectively in speaking, reading, and writing Bilingual preferredNon-CDL/CDL Permit $16.50 per hourCDL no endorsements $25.86 per hourMax 20 hours a week
