MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent.
* A combination of post-secondary education in job related topics or secretarial experience to equal 2 (two) years.
* Excellent English language, grammar, and spelling skills.
* Keyboarding speed of at least 50 wpm.
* Experience in word-processing/data entry/spreadsheet application.
* Experience with Windows and Microsoft Office software package preferred.
* Demonstrated communications and public relations skills.
* An understanding of filing systems.
* Willingness to learn online application systems and substitute system.
SALARY AND WORK YEAR:
As established by the Los Lunas Schools current Personnel Specialist Salary Schedule. 244-day contract.

A Personnel Specialist is responsible for Onboarding, which entails managing all aspects of staff employment within a school district, including recruitment, hiring, employee records maintenance, benefits administration, compliance with labor laws, and addressing employee relations issues, ensuring smooth operations of the school workforce by facilitating efficient personnel processes and procedures. The specialist role is to support and enhance the organization's workforce.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITITES:
* Follows local, state and federal law and adheres to Public Education Department and Local School Board Policy.
* Performs the expected office routines and practices, greets and assists the public.
* Maintains personnel materials on message boards and disseminates information to work sites for posting.
* Schedules appointments for the Personnel Administrator(s) and schedules interviews as directed.
* Accepts, processes, and files employee applications and related information.
* Assists in the processing and filing of other pertinent personnel data related to employment.
* Notarize forms and documents as appropriate.
* Assists in fingerprinting and processing for review all that is required by state statute to complete criminal background checks on prospective, non-licensed and licensed employees.
* Assists in the processing of new employees insuring that all pertinent information is disseminated and collected in compliance with all local policy and state and federal law.
* Maintains and posts teaching licensure information inclusive of submissions of waivers.
* Prepares notices of license expiration and prepares lists for follow-up notices.
* Generates all necessary follow-up documents to submit to the appropriate entities.
* Maintains records for verification of employment.
* Prepare Intent to Return and Short-term letters, along with other document preparation.
* Prepares superintendent action memo and prepares documents for superintendent consideration.
* Responsible for the creating, maintaining, updating, and securing of current and former employee files.
* Follows up on personnel actions.
* Orders and maintains office supplies.
* Maintains and troubleshoots the employee absence and substitute system platform.
* Maintains and troubleshoots the online application system platform.
* Processes incoming mail directed to the Personnel Office.
* Researches and maintains personnel data for verification of employment and prepares for Personnel Administrator's signature where appropriate.
* Retire files upon termination of employees.
* Performs all other relevant tasks as may be assigned.
