Job Location : Plymouth,MA, USA
1. Primary contact/liaison for patient access for new and established patients seeking new and/or follow-up behavioral health appointments.
2. Answers the phone in a timely and professional manner, directs calls to appropriate persons and takes accurate messages within the electronic health record.
3. Schedule patient appointments and/or consult requests in person or by telephone in the electronic health record in accordance with department scheduling protocols.
4. Maintains provider schedules to achieve productivity targets, patient access and provider flow while optimizing electronic health record functionality with report trending, scheduling, etc.
5. Attends monthly team meeting with physicians, nurse practitioners and therapists to offer suggestions/guidance regarding patient access and schedule/s.
6. Monitors medical provider panels and contacts patients who are past due for appointments; utilizes patient scheduling reports to follow-up with patients who have not scheduled a future visit.
7. Tracks established patients who were seen in Emergency Department and contacts them to offer a follow up appointment.
8. Obtains accurate and required information when registering/scheduling appointments with updated demographics and insurance/payer information including verification of insurance eligibility for newly established patients.
9. Explain and process payments from patients, which may include but not limited to co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles.
10. Monitor patient cancellation and no-show appointment reports to ensure appointment availability is scheduled timely with patients on waitlists and/or in need of earlier appointment.
11. Reviews provider schedules to include time off, sick time, vacation, in-service and meeting time; calls patients to reschedule appointments when clinician is out and makes edits in computerized schedule.
12. Manages the schedule during transition to new models of care when applicable.
13. Mail out new patient package when applicable.
14. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
15. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
16. Perform other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
* Ability to read, write and communicate in English
* High School Diploma or GED
* Two years' experience with patient registration, scheduling or billing in a hospital or medical office OR an Associates or Bachelors degree in business, IT, or other related field, from an accredited institution.
* One year recent experience (within the past 3 years) working with third party payors including clinical referrals preferred
* Minimum one (1) year experience with current office technology, proficient with medical computer office applications including Electronic Health Record and Software applications, (ie. EPIC, eCW, MS Excel/Word, etc.)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
