Job Summary

This role is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of all activities within the sterile processing department to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant sterilization and decontamination of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role involves oversight of staff, processes, and regulatory standards, ensuring adherence to best practices for infection control, sterilization protocols, and inventory management. The Manager collaborates with perioperative and clinical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments, manages department budgets, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, this position ensures compliance with regulatory bodies such as AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA, and supports staff development through education, training, and performance evaluations.

Experience

* Five years of progressively responsible experience in a Central Sterile Processing Department or a related healthcare setting.

* Experience collaborating with perioperative teams, surgeons, and other clinical staff to ensure timely and efficient instrument processing and availability.

Education

* Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Healthcare Administration, Nursing, or a Biological Science is preferred. Five years of progressively responsible experience in a Central Sterile Processing Department may substitute for degree requirement.

License & Certifications

* CRCST Certification required.

* CSIS Certification required.

* CFER Certification required.

* Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL) within 6 months of hire.

Additional Requirements

* In-depth knowledge of AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other relevant regulations related to sterile processing and infection control.
