Job SummaryThe Central Service Technician - Certified carries out the operations of sterile processing and will be proficient with all job duties assigned to this position.
Core Job Responsibilities- Carries out Standard Precautions at all times.
- Performs all phases of decontamination: instruments, carts and equipment (commodes, Imeds, Isolation Carts, wheelchairs, stretchers, etc.)
- Operates the washer-decontaminator, cart wash and the steam gun.
- Processes flexible endoscopes to include cleaning, high level disinfection, and sterilization as required by the manufacturers instructions.
- Performs all phases of inspecting and assembling instruments for the OR, CTOR, Cath lab, EP lab, X-ray, ER, Sleep lab and all the off-sites.
- Operates the sterilizers in the department (STEAM, ETO, and STERRAD).
- Adheres to proper wrapping, labeling, and logging procedures.
- Operates heat sealer, labeling gun and drying cabinet.
- Accurately documents results.
- Adheres to the proper delinting, folding and assembling of reusable linen.
- Restock hemodialysis carts, minor procedure carts, and prisma carts.
- Prepares tops for instrument trays for the nursing units.
- Assembles port-a-cath kits, central line kits, angiogram kits, radical neck tops, etc.
- Perform audits on trays and equipment and carts for quality control.
- Performs hospital rounds.
- May be required to work on-call hours.
- Perform team lead responsibilities, including mentoring staff and constructive problem solving.
- Performs other duties as required.
Education/Experience RequirementsREQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Min 1-year previous related experience
PREFERRED:
- Scope washing experience
- Robotic equipment processing experience
- Ability to lead, guide and motivate others or experience in a team lead role.
Licensure/Certification RequirementsREQUIRED:
- Certification in Sterile Processing from HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board of Sterile Processing & Distribution).
