Oceanside Care Center - REPORTS TO: Unit Coordinator DUTY HOURS: 7-3, 3-11, 11-7 DEPARTMENT: NURSING QUALIFICATIONS: 100 - hour certification required Comprehension of the English language, reading, writing and speaking is necessary High School education is preferred A liking and understanding of the long term care of geriatric residents is mandatory WORK EXPERI ENCE: Preferred, as a maximum, six (six) months CAN experience in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or other related medical facility. PU RPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITIO N: The primary purpose of your job position is to provide your assigned residents with routine daily nursing care in accordance with our established nursing care procedures. DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY: As a Certified Nursing Assistant you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your ass i gned duties. JOB FUNCT IONS: Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. WORKI NG CONDITIONS : Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies, personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances. May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors. Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors. Is willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. Is subject to strong odors, etc., throughout the workday. Is at risk for exposure to blood pathogens, waste, diseases, etc., including exposure to AIDS and Hepatitis. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must have a normal or corrected vision in order to complete daily tasks.2. Must perform major visual functions, including acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation, and color vision. 3. Must be capable of hearing and speaking English in order to communicate with people on the phone in person. 4. Must be able to stand for periods of time. 5. Must have good sense of balance and be capable of maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking or standing and transferring residents. 6. Must be capable of stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching, and squatting required during positioning of residents and observation skills. 7. Must be capable of carrying up to 50 pounds for transporting equipment and supplies; must be capable of moving and/ or lifting residents from bed/wheelchair to the stretchers; moving devices are available; these residents may we i gh up to over 300 pounds. 8. Must be capable of a wide range of hand, wrist, and finger motions, including pinching, grasping, and fingering required for tasks such as writing, answering phones, adjusting dials, using and carrying equipment and supplies, and positioning residents. 9. Must be able to assist in properly positioning residents. 10. Must be able to physically respond to emergency situations in accordance with established policies and procedures.11. Must be able to coordinate eyes and hands, feet or fingers rapidly and accurately in making precise movements with speed; must be able to make a movement response accurately and quickly.
