The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides medical and physical care to the residents to meet their daily needs and enable them to function at the highest possible level. While this care is provided under the leadership of a professional nurse, the CNA is the residents' closest advocate. The CNA promotes the residents' psychosocial well-being through meaningful relationship building and works with the team to meet other social service needs of the resident and of the team, always providing support, friendship and kindness. The CNA supports Homemaker/Resident Assistant and the Neighborhood Coordinator. All CNA tasks are performed in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations and in a safe and efficient manner.
* Attends to all resident personal hygiene and personal care needs, including but not limited to grooming, hygiene, dining, nutrition, mobility, elimination,
psychosocial and safety needs; cares for resident's personal property including dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids and prosthetic devices
* Performs all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
* Supports residents in self-care, and provides care as necessary for those unable to care for their own needs
* Provides general nursing care while maintaining dignity such as repositioning residents, lifting and turning residents, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in the use of bedpan or commode
* Promptly responds to the wandering system and resident safety alarms, knows whereabouts of assigned residents
* Observes residents closely, identifying changing needs and conditions at first indication, and reports immediately to nursing as appropriate
* Participates actively in the residents' plan of care, serving as the residents' closest advocate in directing their care and honoring their preferences
* Assists in and accompanies residents in the admission, transfer and discharge procedures
* Organizes all supplies necessary to complete the tasks
* Adheres to policies and procedures of the facility and the nursing department
* Treats residents, families, coworkers with respect and dignity, follows the STAR standards
* Verbalizes understanding of the Abuse Prevention Policy and Procedure, including assurance of residents immediate safety and necessity of immediate
reporting
Requirements
* Basic computer knowledge
* Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
Shift Time: AM & PM shifts available. Full time, part time, or PRN
