About the unit
16 ORs comprised of multidisciplinary teams; consistently recognized by US News&World Report as national leaders in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, our dedicated team is expertly trained in the management of acute and urgent trauma as well as electively scheduled procedures for both the pediatric and adult populations. We set a standard of excellence in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery with access to advanced technologies including Surgical Theatre, robotic assisted, endoscopic, and minimally invasive surgeries.

Scope of work
The Certified Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures, and who works under the direct supervision of and by the request of the operating surgeon.
Qualifications
High school diploma Required
Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program Required
Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSA) through the NCCSA, or Certified Surgical First Assistant Certification (CSFA) through the NBSTSA within two years of completing first assistant course Required
2 years of relevant experience; Surgical assisting experience Required
Certified (CST)– AST Association of Surgical Technologist Upon Hire Preferred
Certified (CST)– ABSA American Board of Surgical Assistants Upon Hire Preferred
Certified (CST)– NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Preferred
Certified (CSFA)– NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 2 years RequiredOr
