Rooted in the 100-plus-year legacy of its founding partners, the network spans the Northeast and is continuing to grow.What youll do:A Surgical Technologist (ST), under the supervision of the RN, will prepare supplies, equipment and instrumentation for each surgery performed at SCOA. The ST will assist the physician with the maintenance of the sterile field and all sterile supplies for each surgery. The ST will assist the Materials Manager in the maintenance of the supply inventory. He/she will assist in the decontamination and reprocessing of surgicalResponsibilities/Duties:Able to assist RN as directed with physician orders according to patient needs.Demonstrates solid communication skills.Gathers needed procedure appropriate supplies for each surgery.Updates surgeon preference cards as needed.Reports missing or malfunctioning equipment to the RN in a timely manner.Competent in the use of equipment required to perform job in a safe, efficient manner.Opens surgical supplies, sets up sterile field, maintains sterile field using aseptic technique. Identifies any break in sterile technique.Anticipates the surgeons needs and requests appropriate supplies prior to their immediate need.Performs sharp and sponge counts with the RN according to policy.Disposes of sharps and hazardous materials according to policy. Utilizes PPE.Cleans OR with appropriate disinfecting agents.Washes and reprocesses instrumentation according to established standards and ASC policy.Accurately labels on medication on the sterile field.
