Job Description :

Key Responsibilities

•Oversee and direct the financial management of the YMCA of Muncie, including budget development, accounting, financial reporting, and audits.

•Lead the development and management of the annual operating and capital budgets.

•Analyze financial trends and forecasts to provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.

•Develop financial strategies and policies to support the sustainability and growth of the organization.

•Ensure compliance with all financial and accounting regulations, including overseeing audits and tax filings. Initiates necessary internal controls.

•Manage cash flow and ensure the availability of funds for operational and capital needs.

•Lead and mentor the finance team, providing oversight and professional development; identifying, analyzing and resolving financial concerns.

•Collaborate with the COO and department heads to develop budgets and manage financial resources effectively.

•Present regular financial reports to the CEO, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.

•Ensure effective management of endowment funds and grants, including reporting and compliance with donor requirements.

•Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and other financial partners.

•Contribute to strategic planning and organizational decision-making as a key member of the executive team.

•Coordinates short-term and long-term financing, including lease/purchasing transactions.

•Supervises the Management Service Organization (MSO) Liaison and the Human Resources (HR) Director.

•Contributes to the YMCA of Muncie Building Corporation.

Human Resources Leadership

•Provide strategic oversight of Human Resources (HR) operations, ensuring HR initiatives align with the YMCA's mission, values, and organizational goals.

•Supervise the HR Director and work with them to develop and implement HR policies and programs in areas such as recruitment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and performance management.

•Partner with the HR Director to ensure compliance with labor laws and YMCA policies, including proper documentation and adherence to best practices.

•Oversee talent acquisition and retention strategies, ensuring the YMCA is attracting and developing high-quality talent across all departments.

•Foster a positive organizational culture that aligns with the YMCA's core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

•Oversee employee training and professional development programs to support leadership growth and ensure high performance.

•Collaborate with the HR Director on succession planning and workforce development to meet current and future organizational needs.

•Ensure compensation and benefits are competitive and support employee well-being, recommending changes as needed to attract and retain staff.

•Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the YMCA's workforce and programs.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning, analysis, and budgeting.
  • Experience with financial management systems and software (knowledge of DAXKO preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the YMCA's mission and values, with a passion for strengthening community.
  • Experience in managing grants and endowment funds is a plus.
