Apply Now!Temp/Term Statement: • This position is a TERM position NOT to exceed December 2026, but may be extended or lead to a permanent position.• This is a temporary position NOT to exceed 1 year but may be extended up to 2 years.FY 2024 Salary Range: $90,178-$139,407/Year (includes locality)Posting Open: 10/04/2024Posting Close: 10/18/2024Who May Apply: External and InternalThe primary purpose of this position is to serve as an analytical chemist in a high-paced chemistry and aerospace laboratory located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. The position is responsible for performing routine sample testing and establishing plans for managing a diverse sample workload using standardized methods. In addition, the candidate serves as a technical expert in laboratory analytical techniques (both wet chemistry and instrumentation) used in the evaluation of petroleum, oil, lubricants, chemicals, and compressed gasses. The laboratory chemists are also involved in leading and facilitating the local evaluation, and deployment of emerging testing methodologies and technologies. Requirements: - U.S. Citizenship - Obtain & maintain a Security clearance - A Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Chemistry or related technical field from an accredited university is highly desired.- Must meet individual Occupational Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management, Chemistry Series (1320).- Knowledge of chemical and quality assurance principles, theories, practices and methodologies applicable to organic, inorganic, analytical and instrumental analysis.- Knowledge of laboratory administrative and personnel practices and procedures; includes duties such as prioritizing or restructuring workload, adapting or improving laboratory processes to meet increased or changing requirements, and cross-training or diversifying the workforce.- Highly experienced with good laboratory practices, laboratory safety regulations and procedures, and laboratory quality programs.- Experienced working with customers, vendors, Department of Defense agencies, organizations, leadership, active duty and civilian workforces KSA's:1. Knowledge of chemical principles, theories, practices and methodologies applicable to a wide range of duties sufficient to serve as a specialist in organic, inorganic and analytical instrumental methods of analysis. Skills to identify deficiencies in standard methods or analysis and to modify or develop new approaches to satisfy unique requirements. Practical knowledge and experience with engineering, materials, quality assurance and industrial processes used in the overhaul, repair, and manufacture of aircraft, engines and accessories.2. Knowledge of administrative and resource policies, practices and procedures; including the ability to adjust work operations to meet emergencies; the ability to change program or workload requirements within available resources and with minimum sacrifice to quality; and the ability to establish objectives or performance goals and assess progress toward their achievement.3. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.4. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with others in a courteous, tactful, and diplomatic manner to gain cooperation in achieving goals.5.
