THE CEO POSITION AT GLACIAL PLAINS COOPERATIVE

Glacial Plains Cooperative is a very successful multiple location full-service Grain, Energy, Feed and Agronomy cooperative located in central MN and has a grain shuttle loading facility, fertilizer hub plant and 2 other fertilizer plants, crop protection, custom application, seed, retail C Store, bulk energy, propane, feed mill, bird food business through the newly built feed mill. Annual sales are about $200 - $250 million, with 20 million bushels of grain, 43,000 tons of fertilizer, $16 million in crop protection and seed sales, $20 million in feed, and energy sales of $17 million

Desired Previous Experience

  • The ideal candidate will have successful senior level experience in the agricultural industry. The candidate must have a strong track record of success with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability in his/her career and strong overall business knowledge. Cooperative experience is not required but knowledge of the cooperative system is desired.
  • The ideal candidate will have been a Chief Executive Officer, General Manager, or have department management experience during their professional career with substantive P&L responsibility. However, all candidates will be evaluated regarding their individual situations regarding job complexity, P&L and balance sheet accountability, and results/success.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the agricultural industry. Specific grain, agronomy, feed, and energy/petroleum background would be preferred.
  • The candidate must understand risk management concepts. The ideal candidate will have risk management experience and/or exposure in the following areas: safety, insurance, grain, feed, energy and agronomy. This is preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have driven the annual and capital budgeting process for his/her company or division.
  • The ideal candidate will have driven a strategic planning process and have demonstrated success in implementing strategic and annual plans.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and contract negotiations.
  • The candidate must have had supervisory experience where a management team or staff has reported to the individual.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience interacting with a Board of Directors and/or upper management.
  • The candidate must show a demonstrated interest in their own personal development.
