We are currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This position is a member of the executive team and directs the overall financial operations of the organization. This includes ensuring accurate and timely financial and statistical reporting; providing strategic direction for the financial function within the organization; developing and implementing all financial practices for Cook Area Health Services. This position will oversee all accounting and finance positions within the organization including billing, accounts payable and payroll. The CFO will oversee all insurances including medical malpractice claims management and serve as the point of contact. This position can be located at our Cook or Bigfork, MN clinics.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all financial reporting, budgeting, business, operational and financial planning processes for the organization.
- Ensure the organization's leadership, including its Board of Directors, is supported with timely and accurate planning, budgeting, accounting, and reporting of financial and operational outcomes.
- Support new business development through expert analysis, planning, and decision support.
- Ensure that all financial, accounting, and administrative policies, functions, systems and processes are performed consistent with all generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as well as within the highest professional, ethical, and legal standards.
- Maintain positive, effective relationships with key resources, including the Bureau of Primary Health Care, state agencies and funding sources, banks, lenders, regulators, audit firms, and related external resources.
- Establish and/or measure business and operating compliance with all internal policies and practices, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.
- Oversight of claims processing and point of contact for concerns of possible or actual malpractice claims. Point of contact with FTCA in the event of a claim.
- Provide leadership & establish commitment to the development and implementation of financial strategies, plans, policies and business initiatives.
- Demonstrate a strong financial acumen. Analyze, synthesize and communicate complex data, financial data, and related issues in an accurate, objective and straightforward manner.
- Provide high level of personal direction, leadership and coaching to management and staff.
- Demonstrate a high level of problem-solving skills including the ability to make critical decisions supported by substantial analysis and critical data based decision making.
- Build consensus and focus within the overall organization as well as within and among various business resources and strategic partners.
- Demonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence skills with the organization's leaders, banks, regulators, vendors, auditors and related external entities.
- Routinely and creatively use and understand technology necessary to collect, retain, analyze and report critical, requisite information related to human resources, payroll, benefits and related matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field. Master's degree is preferred.
- 5 or more years in financial management role. 10 or more years preferred.
- Experience in a nonprofit organization is preferred.
- Background in healthcare administration is preferred.
