About the job: Reporting in a matrix structure to the President and CEO of NLH and the Chief Clinical Officer of Dartmouth Health, the CMO of New London Hospital is responsible for ensuring high quality, patient-centered care by leading clinical and quality initiatives that support the provision of consistent clinical performance and practice standards across the hospital. The CMO will partner with the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer in a triad model to ensure all inpatient and outpatient departments are running efficiently and meeting targets. The CMO will, alongside other senior leaders, manage all physicians and advanced practice provider contracts and work to recruit new providers. The role also ensures that independent physicians and outreach clinics meet or exceed the NLH standards of care. # Minimum qualifications: Qualified candidates will possess an MD or DO degree and American Board Certification in their specialty. Candidates are encouraged to continue active clinical practice while in this role. An MBA, Medical Management certification, or similar training is preferred. # Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare leadership. Responsible for ensuring the provision of high-quality medical care. Partners with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in a triad model to ensure all inpatient and outpatient departments are running efficiently and achieving quality and budget targets. In collaboration with the CEO and COO of NLH, manages all provider contracts with a particular focus on compensation models and clinical responsibilities for employed physicians and associate practice providers (APPs). Holds employed providers, Dartmouth Health providers practicing at NLH, and locum tenens providers accountable to all of NLH#s policies and procedures. Provides direction and assistance to and mentors the Medical Directors to ensure that high-quality and effective care is provided in a collaborative and professional manner. Ensures adequate clinical orientation and mentoring for all new physicians, advance practice providers, and locum tenens providers. Ensures risk management and safety issues are reported promptly and resolved properly. Works closely with the CEO and COO on the recruitment of new physicians and providers. Collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) and Dartmouth Heath Chairs to ensure provider service agreements (PSAs) and/or outreach clinics are meeting or exceeding the standards of care for services provided at NLH. Works to develop effective interaction and collaboration with nursing and other professionals in the clinical practice. Participates in the organization#s planning and budgeting activities. Recognizes and acts upon opportunities for performance improvement. Serves as a member of the New London Hospital Senior Leadership Team and participates in regular meetings, huddles, and retreats. May be assigned to board or organizational committees at the discretion of the CEO. Participates as part of the administrator on call (AOC) pool. When serving as AOC, leads the daily safety huddle. Must embody the culture and values of New London Hospital at all times in order to role model appropriate behaviors to the staff.
