We are seeking an experienced Chief Mine Engineer to join a prominent mining operation based in Arizona. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Surveying, Ore Control, and both Short- and Medium-Range Mine Planning efforts. As the Chief Mine Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the quality and integrity of mine plans, collaborating with key stakeholders, and driving operational improvements. Key Responsibilities of Chief Mine Engineer:
- Lead and mentor the Ore Control, Short-, Medium-, and Long-term Planning teams, as well as the Surveying team, ensuring cohesive performance across these functions.
- Work closely with the Ore/Grade Control Engineer to optimize ore value, considering economic, geological, and metallurgical factors.
- Assist and guide the Short-Range Planner in developing, executing, and tracking weekly and monthly mine plans.
- Coordinate with mine operations, processing, geology, hydrology, geotechnical teams, and drill & blast teams to socialize and ensure alignment of mine plans.
- Contribute to Long-Range Planning efforts, including fleet sizing, dump designs, technical studies, and asset optimization.
- Inspect mine pits, dumps, roads, and facilities regularly to identify and resolve issues, ensuring efficient and safe operation.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement in mine designs and fleet efficiency, and drive solutions to enhance both.
- Analyze production data, prepare technical reports, and create presentations to support decision-making and mine performance improvement.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering growth and improving the overall performance of the team.
- Manage annual budgets, track production performance, and ensure progress aligns with short- and long-range plans.
- Lead the design and implementation of special projects to improve mine operations.
Required Skills and Abilities for Chief Mine Engineer:
- A minimum of 7 years of open-pit mine planning and operations experience in a leadership role.
- A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in mine planning and design software, including Hexagon MinePlan, Vulcan, Datamine, and databases such as acQuire and Access.
- Valid driver's license required.
