- High School Diploma/GED
- Texas Peace Officer License issued by Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Successful completion of training required by Texas Education Code (TEC) 96.641 and Texas Occupational Code 1701.2633 within two (2) years of employment
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license
- Advanced knowledge of criminal investigation, police report writing, and criminal law
- Training and ability to subdue offenders, including use of firearms and handcuffs
- Bondable as required by Texas Education Code 37.081(h)
- Strong public relations, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well with District Safety Director, the community, staff and students
- Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged hours as needed
- Five (5) years' experience as licensed peace officer
- Five (5) years of law enforcement experience in supervisory or command capacity, preferred
