Job Title: Chief Operating Officer Reports To: Chief Executive Officer Location: Boston, MA Position Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Salary Exempt

Overview:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the senior management team, reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The COO oversees the daily operations of Programs, Contracts and Compliance, IT, Real Estate/Facilities, and Data. The COO provides leadership and vision to ensure the organization meets its short-term and long-term objectives. The COO helps to create enduring policies and a company culture that strengthens operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement business strategies, policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Oversee the daily operations of Heading Home and the work of senior leaders in Programs, Real Estate/Facilities, Data, and IT.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategic short- and long-term goals.
  • Evaluate risk and lead quality assurance efforts.
  • Focus on driving Heading Home's mission through the improvement of operations across various departments.
  • Foster and develop strong relationships with staff, funders, stakeholders, and the board of directors.
  • Act as backup to the CEO as needed.
  • Provide the Board of Directors and CEO with reporting, analysis, and growth strategies. Attend all Board meetings and oversee the Real Estate Committee.
  • Ensure the organization's compliance with laws and regulations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years of non-profit leadership experience preferred.
  • 10+ years of supervisory experience.
  • History of demonstrated effective leadership.
  • Strong data analysis, reporting, and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Work Environment:

  • Cubicle space within a large office building; prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer, or requires equal amounts of sitting and standing. Must be able to climb stairs. Office is open to the public and visitors only by appointment. Position requires a minimum of four days onsite. Office is climate controlled with heat and air conditioning.
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs up to three or more sets, frequently move equipment weighing up to 25 lbs., and must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
