Position Highlights
The Chief Radiation Therapist will be based at the Avera McKennan Sioux Falls Radiation Oncology department. This individual will work closely with the clinic manager, chief physicist and radiation oncologists within this department to ensure the patients receive safe and quality treatments.

A Brief OverviewSupervises professionals involved with direct patient care in Radiation Oncology. Coordinates communication and workflow between radiation therapists, CT simulation staff and brachytherapy staff. Supervises and delivers daily prescribed therapeutic radiation doses to radiation therapy patients under the guidance of the Radiation Oncologists and Physicists and collaborates with other staff. This position is responsible for the daily technical and scheduling process and responsible for some direct patient care. Assists leadership in overall management of the direct patient care and treatment area.
What you will do- Directly oversees radiation therapists, CT simulation and brachytherapy.
- Oversees daily treatment and scheduling flow, and delegates duties to staff therapists.
- Assists with the development of immediate and future goals and objectives for the department.
- Assists with the review and revision of standard operating policies and procedures and assures training, implementation, compliance and maintenance.
- Participates in staff assignments as needed to maintain efficiency within the department.
- Conducts therapist staff meetings as appropriate.
- Regular Quality Assurance implementation and review.
- Assists with administration and process development of the electronic medical record.
- Provides direct patient care on the treatment machines as needed.
- If position is covering duties at the regional service line locations, travel is required.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:- Associate's Graduate from an Accredited School of Radiation Therapy Technology
- Radiation Therapy (T) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Upon Hire
- Minimum 3 years experience as practicing radiation therapist
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:- Bachelor's Graduate from an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
