We are creating a new digital creator platform for the $1.7T food market, where anyone can easily share content, build a following, monetize, and find community. We are building the new food network for the long tail, enabling anyone across the world to build their own food channel, and our mission is to open the aperture for everyone to reconnect to their own cultural traditions and to explore a diverse and international set of new ones.RoleAs the Chief Technology Officer of Expo Eats, you will build and lead the engineering department to efficiently execute the product vision. You will be responsible for understanding the needs of the business and the users, and for implementing the right technical solutions to best address those needs. You are an expert in your field. You deeply understand the trade-offs between different technical platforms and frameworks, and you understand all relevant current and future industry trends. You will also be responsible for defining and improving the company strategy and culture, in collaboration with the other executives, including the CPO and the CEO. This role reports to the CEO.Responsibilities
- Deeply understand the customer and opportunity.
- Build, support, mentor, and grow a world-class engineering team.
- Partner with the CEO and CPO on company-wide strategy and leadership.
- Communicate technical roadmap and strategy to the stakeholders.
- Assist other departments in using technology effectively.
- Build and monitor system infrastructure, and ensure that it is working efficiently.
- Launch the right products and features, in collaboration with the product teams, in a timely manner.
- Foster a culture of scrappiness, strategic ownership, and cross-functional collaboration.Requirements
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of Engineering experience.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in building and managing multiple teams of engineers.
- Exceptional technical knowledge and insights.
- Passion for food. Belief in our mission to connect and empower food content creators and consumers.
- Demonstrated ability to think about and represent users' needs.
- Data-driven and analytical - A track record of using qualitative and quantitative data to prioritize and drive decision-making.
- Exceptional communication skills - able to convince, debate, and learn (strong beliefs; loosely held).
- Demonstrate humility, curiosity, versatility and creativity.
