The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Child Watch Lead to join our team!The YMCAfocuses on empowering people in all forms, by improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across our neighborhoods. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. As a Child Watch Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities. Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities.
  • Assist and support the supervision of the Child Watch program under the directions of the Program Director.
  • Provide a quality experience focused on YMCA core values of Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Caring.

  • One year or more of related experience (preferred).
  • Previous experience working with children of all ages preferably in a program setting and diverse populations.

  • Knowledge and skills in program activities and related office equipment, and the ability to instruct youth classes in sports, games, and activities.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills needed to support youth staff and classes.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred)
  • Able and willing to complete Child Abuse Prevention training on first day and other online or in-person training as required.
Wage: $16.66 to $18.28 per hour, depending on qualificationsHours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per weekLocation: Lakewood Family YMCA, Lakewood, WABenefits:

Child Watch Lead Job DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Child Watch Lead ensures a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while parents are utilizing the YMCA facilities. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.Key Responsibilities •Encourage member and parent involvement and identify potential volunteers.•Plan and organize age appropriate activities. Play actively with the children. Adapt activities to the needs of each.•Monitor the health and socialization of children daily.•Provide appropriate discipline of children, as necessary, according to YMCA policy and procedures.•Assist child with personal maintenance, as needed by the child.•Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children to guarantee their safety while in our care. •Greet parents and help children feel welcome.
