The entry level class works under immediate supervision and requires someknowledge of social services along with strong communication skills and a safe driving record. Duties/ResponsibilitiesAny one position may not include all of the duties listed, nor do the essential functions cover all of the duties which may be performed or required.Completes a variety of reports in the Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS) including but not limited to: family activity sheets, daily activity schedules, caseload lists, and documentation. Observes visits between families and children in the agency's care and documents observations in SACWIS; documents client phone calls in SACWIS.Transports clients and/or children in personal or county vehicle. Assists families in developing appropriate behaviors, adequate hygiene, independent living skills, parenting skills, budgeting and money management skills, role modeling, and organization skills. Observes parent and child/children behavior and home environment in order to detect conditions which may threaten child safety. Meets with caseworkers to communicate observations and provide feedback regarding services being provided to families. Assists caseworker in providing services to the families; assists caseworker with supervising visits. May testify in court. Provides supportive services to both substitute caregivers and primary parents. Provides parent mentoring in home and in group. Teaches household management. Schedules and teaches parenting classes (in-home and/or classroom setting) based on the age of child/children in the home. Documents parenting class participation in SACWIS. Coordinates and schedules assistance requests. Arranges travel and schedules appointments. Provides car seat training to staff. Files and picks up court documents; drops off and picks up police records; obtains signatures from Prosecutor. Attends lectures, staff meetings and conferences. Participates on agency work teams. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with representatives of various social service agencies, boards, county officials, court officials, law enforcement and other parties. Provides culturally-competent services to clients, the public, and colleagues. Performs additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 12-24 months experience in transportation along with 12 months of previous clerical, business/office practices, customer service or related field experience. Valid Ohio Driver's License.- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above may be substituted for the education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. Supplemental Information Physical effort at the level normally found in office work or the equivalent. Although work is sedentary, and involves sitting often, it may involve occasional lifting and/or carrying of small objects, picking up and carrying children, walking, standing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, driving, reaching, fingering, keyboarding, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Must be able to climb stairs. Exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects, or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work, the job is rated for light work. Some outside work will involve going into homes where there may be potential for exposure to hostile and dangerous persons or extremely poor home conditions. Incumbents may be subjected to verbally or physically aggressive clients and/or other family members, threats, weapons, harassment, personal injury, physical violence, environmental factors such as fumes, noise, cold, excessive heat, dirt, contagious diseases, unpleasant odors, bugs/insects, rodents, aggressive animals, animal waste, human waste, potential exposure to drugs or Meth Houses, trash, blood and body fluids while in client homes, meetings/appointments with clients or transporting clients. Required to travel/drive in extreme weather (rain, snow, ice, etc.) which could cause hazardous road conditions.
