Summary/Primary Purpose: The Kettle Assistant position exists to further mission of the Salvation Army by supporting bell ringing and other logistical needs related to our annual Christmas campaign.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the transportation of kettles and bell ringers to assigned locations.
  • In association with corps officers, ensure that any kettle issues are addressed.
  • Help with the sorting of kettle funds.
  • Help assist in Thanksgiving and Christmas Distribution.
  • Help put away donations of food, clothes, toys, etc. and record them for in house donation.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
  • Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army's Safe from Harm Certification.
  • Perform other related and special duties as needed and assigned by supervisor.
  • Driving is an essential role of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Significant Customer service-based experiences will be considered in lieu of.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.

  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. As well as the ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to details and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working Relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  • Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

    Working Conditions: The work environment is a business office setting with office equipment, light traffic and moderate noise levels. Work may be performed indoors and outdoors to meet the needs of the role.
