Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:Drive kettle stands and collection buckets to their locations daily per the routes scheduled. Perform other Christmas-related driving duties, such as food pick-ups, toy collection pick-ups, and other duties as assigned by the Commanding Officer.ACCOUNTABILITY:Your primary immediate supervisor is the Corps Officer.When the CO is not available, the Corps administrative assistant will provide direction and can answer any questions.QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license.
  • Must pass The Salvation Army's in house driving test and Motor vehicles Records check.
  • Must be willing to continually lift 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to drive own and/or assigned TSA vehicles. (Based on availability)
KETTLE DRIVER DUTIES:
  • Report each morning to participate in kettle counting.
  • Assist in preparing and readying the coin-counting machine for kettle-counting.
  • Assist with transporting kettle deposits to the bank as needed.
  • Prepare and ready all needed kettle supplies, making repairs if able/needed.
  • Confer daily with CO regarding suggestions for route improvement (moving workers, etc.)
  • Drive own and/or assigned TSA vehicle to pick up and drop off kettles six (6) days per week per an assigned kettle route.
  • Secure the kettles at the end of the day when dropped off.
  • Ensure kettle workers have daily supplies as needed, delivering supplies as needed.
  • Instruct kettle workers as to their daily duties, ensuring breaks and lunches are observed.
  • Ensure kettle workers' hours are reported accurately to CO.
  • Daily visit kettle sites outside of drop off and pick up times, ensuring workers are adequately filling their roles.
  • Report IMMEDIATELY to CO concerns regarding workers, equipment, or location logistics.
  • IMMEDIATELY report to CO if additional supplies are needed through the season.
  • Network with kettle volunteers, providing good attention to detail and thanking them for their service.
  • Switch out volunteer kettles as needed and directed.
  • Inventory and sort, as directed, all kettle supplies.
  • At the end of the season, inventory and sort, as directed, all kettle supplies.
  • Pick up toys from Angel Trees as needed.
  • Any other duty as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis.
  • Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects such as files, boxes of food, or other objects and reach overhead.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a telephone.
  • Ability to understand, use, and respond to written information.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to operate a pallet jack.
  • Ability to perform all tasks as assigned
