Position Description:

Coordinates site improvement activities working closely with the Director of Operations, Plant Manager and cross functional support teams. Identifies and delivers best practice programs to ensure the short and long term success of manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates overall continuous improvement program for corporate initiatives and site manufacturing operations
  • Works to develop meaningful metrics to measure and drive improvements to the shop floor
  • Develops both short and long term improvement plans and report progress on a monthly basis to upper management
  • Troubleshoots and resolves problems which interfere with timely and accurate production.
  • Plans over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve these results to accommodate all production schedules
  • Implements CI/Lean methods on the shop floor in a wide variety of areas (TPM, SMED, FLOW, WPO, etc.) with bottom line impact
  • Acts as a mentor and coach to the cross functional business units and will be called upon to train on the various tools of lean
  • Facilitates CI workshops
  • Balances safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale to achieve positive results in all areas
  • Evaluates and determines site training and development needs

Required Skills, EDUCATION and Experience:

  • Associate Degree, Trade or Technical School in Engineering or Technology (Industrial or Mechanical) or related field
  • Knowledge and/or training courses that can be exhibited with Microsoft Office and Business Operating Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Demonstrates ability to read, interpret and apply blueprints, weld symbols and procedures.
  • 1-3 years of experience with lean manufacturing and six-sigma

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
