CITY ENGINEER JOB VACANCY #: JV 2025-4 THE POSITION OF: City Engineer DEPARTMENT/DIVISION OF: Public Works/Engineering FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Exempt SCHEDULE: Full-time SALARY: DOQ POSTING DATE: January 29, 2025 Qualified, interested candidates must submit an application and current resume. POSITION SUMMARY : The City Engineer will oversee and manage the operations of the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. This role is responsible for managing construction projects, ensuring compliance with City engineering standards, and providing technical expertise for municipal infrastructure. The position involves supervising staff, coordinating with contractors and consultants, developing budgets, and managing project funding. Typical duties include but may not be limited to: Lead and manage the Engineering Division within the Public Works Department. Oversee assigned construction projects, ensuring adherence to City engineering standards for streets, curbs, sidewalks, bridges, signage, and traffic signals. Provide engineering expertise and recommendations to the Public Works Director and City Administration, as required by the City Ordinance. Supervise staff, contractors, and consultants, and ensure compliance with construction permit regulations. Collaborate with City Administration, Boards, Commissions, and Authorities to support departmental goals. Resolve daily engineering-related issues and make decisions to advance project progress. Develop and manage the Engineering Division's annual budget, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget. Review land development plans for the Planning and Zoning department and participate in monthly Planning Commission meetings. Drafting and amending municipal ordinances related to Stormwater Management, Zoning, and Land Development (SALDO). Attend City Council meetings and present information as required. Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Traffic Engineering, or a related field. Master's preferred. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania. Minimum five (5) years of construction project management experience. Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing municipal engineering services for Boroughs, Townships, or Cities, including managing engineering programs and staff.
