LaBella is currently seeking an entry level Civil Engineer to join our municipal group.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the design of water distribution and transmission mains, booster stations, and water tanks.
- Assist with the design of wastewater collection mains and pump stations.
- Assist with the design of stormwater collection and stormwater management practices.
- Assist with the design of new roadways and drainage systems.
- Prepare project specifications and design reports.
- Assist with Construction Administration tasks such as attending meetings, reviewing submittals and pay applications, and preparing punch list and closeout documents.
- Observe on-going construction projects and prepare daily inspection reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in the A/E consulting industry or related fields.
- Proficient in Microsoft productivity suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Ability, willingness, and enthusiasm to learn as necessary to fill different roles based on project needs that vary in breadth, depth, and subject matter.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate efficiently with teammates in different disciplines and different locations.
- Ability and willingness to receive and understand instructions/guidance and complete tasks independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EIT or the ability to obtain within 12 months preferred.
- Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Revit software and associated best practices related to layering, drawing/figure production, and coordination between disciplines.
- Experience modeling water systems using HydroCAD, WaterCAD, or other hydraulic/process modeling software.
- Experience completing hydraulic calculations with a functional understanding of the typical design and selection of pumps (including system curve development) and other common components (pipe, valves, and other appurtenances).
- Knowledge of typical drinking water and wastewater treatment unit processes, and familiarity with the methods by which such unit processes are sized based upon applicable design parameters.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
- Occasionally move about inside the office to access conference rooms, office machinery, etc.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs to access meeting rooms, office machinery, etc. (Elevator available)
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs and ladders for observation of facility operations and construction activities.
- Frequently communicates with design team members. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions.
- Occasional travel, primarily within New York State.
- Ability to access all areas of project sites and conduct physical evaluations of site and facilities, including ability to climb; walk a significant distance, sometimes on uneven ground; and occasional minor lifting (
